Union Belts

All the belts I make are copied after originals in public, private or my collection. Each is copied in exacting detail per the original copied. Hanover Brass Foundry expertly crafts all of our cast plates directly from originals. Our stamped plates are made from the original dyes, stamped out by Naugatuck Novelty Company.

PLEASE NOTE: All belts are made to accommodate up to a 40” waist. If you require a longer belt please add $15 to the price.

USB1 U.S. M1861 Belt, Waxed Flesh or Bridal Leather With Buckle (Used from 1851-1872) - $60.00

This belt is made per originals with a leather keeper loop hand-sewn at the end. Since the loop was too small to admit the buckle, most soldiers didn't use the loop or took it off the belt. You can choose to use the loop or make the same choice as the soldiers did. The belt comes with choice puppy paw or Early Allegheny Arrow back.

USB2 U.S. Mid-Late War Belt (has Brass “Clip” Keeper) with correct buckle (Used from 1863-1872) - $60.00
The mid-late war belt was developed in 1862/63 for easier use of the keeper. The old loop type was replaced by the use of the patented brass “Clip” keeper, which allowed the soldier to leave the belt plate on the belt when putting it on, and stop the soldiers from cutting off the leather loop that the clip replaced. Comes complete with US Mid-Late war belt plate.

USB3 U.S. M1839 Belt, Real White Buff, With Correct Plate (Used from 1840-1862) - $65.00

The belt put around the waist and through the keeper. Then reattach the plate to the belt. Since the loop was too small to admit the buckle, most soldiers didn’t use the loop or took it off the belt. This belt is made according to the originals. So you can make the same choice as the soldiers did, the belt comes complete with your choice of Pre-War wire back, puppy paw back, or Allegheny arrow back hooks.
